October saw the best of our Cross Country athletes battle it out at the beautiful grounds of Cottingham High. In perfect conditions, 18 East Riding secondary schools brought over 500 pupils to compete at the Annual Secondary East Riding Schools Cross Country Championships. There were some amazing individual and team performances but congratulations goes to everyone who completed the course. The top 25 athletes now go on to represent East Riding Schools at the Humber round.

Later that day attention turned to the Primary Schools Cross Country Competition with over 110 pupils challenging for the title of East Riding Champion. Again some wonderful performances were witnessed but the commitment from every athlete, along with their staff and parents should be congratulated.

A huge thank you goes to Cottingham High School for hosting the event and all the PE and school staff that bring the teams along each year to make it such a fabulous competition. Angel Rhodes and Rebecca Darcy and their School Sport Partnerships staff work together to ensure the day can run smoothly and extra thanks should be given to John Savage from the East Riding Athletics Association who advises and assists with the course selection.
