Humber School Games 2017

Last week saw the finale of the Humber School Games, with over 1500 young people taking part in the county final event.

Having already competed in local and district events in their chosen sport, schools from Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire sent their top athletes and and teams to battle it out to become Humber champions. Hymers College in Hull once again played host to the event and the rain cleared up overnight to give us a dry and fine day outside! The quality was incredibly high and the competition was extremely close across all the activities - Tennis, Softball, Netball, Rounders, Golf, Orienteering, Boccia and a Change 4 Life Festival.

Britain's most capped Volleyball player and 2012 Olympian Ben Pipes was on hand to sign T Shirts and present all the winners with their medals. BBC Radio Humber also broadcast live from site for 2 hours in the afternoon adding a new dimension to the event.

Event organiser Jo McDonald from Active Humber said, 'Today was a fantastic showcase of competition and participation for school sport across the Humber. Congratulations to all the schools and individuals who took part, you have done yourselves proud!'.

Winners were decided across all the sports, and links to the overall placings can be found below.
