North Bank Badminton Success

                                “It’s the North Bank’s Day in Humber School Games Badminton”

Hull and East Riding schools took all four titles in a highly competitive Humber School Games Badminton Championships at The Pods, Scunthorpe which was officiated by leaders from Sir John Nelthorpe School, Brigg.

In the Years 7/8/9 Boys competition, St Mary’s College (Hull) and Frederick Gough (North Lincolnshire) won their first two rounds to set up a “final” in the last phase of the competition. The Hull school was victorious winning 4-1 to secure the title to add to their Hull and East Riding Schools title in the Badminton England National Schools Championships pathway. Beverley Grammar (East Riding) beat Healing Academy (North East Lincolnshire) to take third place.

Wolfreton (East Riding) were the dominant in the Years 7/8/9 Girls competition completing three 5-0 wins to take the title. St Mary’s College recovered from the opening round defeat to the eventual winners to take the runners up spot after wins against Healing Academy and Frederick Gough. The North Lincolnshire school took third place after a win over Healing Academy.

The Years 10 and 11 Boys competition saw some outstanding and high quality badminton played. Longcroft (East Riding) were the stand out team completing three 5-0 wins retaining their title from 2018. Vale Academy (North Lincolnshire) beat Malet Lambert (Hull) and Healing Academy to take the runners up position. Healing Academy beat Malet Lambert to take third place.

In a closely fought Year 10 and 11 Girls competition, Malet Lambert produced two 3-2 wins over Toll Bar Academy (North East Lincolnshire) and Axholme Academy (North Lincolnshire) to take the title after an opening round win against Longcroft.  Toll Bar Academy beat Axholme and Longcroft to take the runners up position with the North Lincolnshire school taking third place.
